Despite the success stories, the last 10 years have been quite dramatic.
We have seen the kitchens of commuter apps faltering in quality and the kitchens of e-commerce biggies shipping bricks when customers order barrels.
SaaSBoomi’s kitchen was in no way different or immune to such effects.
Over the last couple of years, we’ve rapidly scaled our kitchen from just 18 to 72 volunteers.
It was rapid scaling that came with its downsides, as many chefs cooked many dishes without anyone ordering for them.
Sometimes, they didn’t cook as much but served their dishes in generous quantities, only to realise that our tribe’s appetite is quite limited.
However, like all things in life, this phase saw its end when we decided to redesign the kitchen.
Today, SaaSBoomi’s kitchen functions without a hierarchy. There’s no head chef or a standardized way of preparing a dish.
What exists now is a deep understanding of the kitchen, the available equipment + ingredients, and the room to add individual flavours.
Our chefs not only co-create amazing dishes but also leave the kitchen tidy once their part of the cooking is done. Thus making things easy for the next chef to step in and do their magic in an environment that’s hygienic and organised.
These chefs question each other and keep realigning themselves to the mission of SaaSBoomi, only to create an infectious culture that keeps bringing more individuals who want to be a part of the kitchen.
